Sayle Gallery Exhibition: ‘Unseen Faces’ by Tomasz Kowalski, 15th-31st January 2016.
Isle of Man based photographer, Tomasz Kowalski’s vision through the camera lens ‘Unseen Faces’ opens on Friday 15th January at the Sayle Gallery.
The concept for the exhibition began on the Island, with the image ‘The Sleeping Giant’, which will make you cautious not to wake the giant, next time you walk on Bradda Head. Tomas’s subsequent travels through Poland and Germany led to more photographic apparitions: From heraldic symbols to mythological Green Men, the intrigue of nature’s hidden faces are brought to the fore.
Tomasz is known for experimenting with classic medium format and 35mm lenses on digital cameras, which brings with it the technical challenges of putting two very different photographic systems together, but also allows the distinct and varied qualities of these classic lenses to be applied to modern photography. Some of the instruments of his trade will be on display during the exhibition.
Tomasz was born in Poland in 1978 and has lived and worked on the Isle of Man for 11 years. The exhibition runs from the 15th -31st January 2016. All works are for sale.
